And you're getting good advice about what you are trying to do. Any focus is invaluable.....and think beyond job titles. Do you want to be focused on people? Working a hard science or are you OK with fluff and more vague subjects? Are travel requirements OK? Do you want to be hands on or behind a cubicle?
Knowing your desired work/lifestyle/salary balance would be helpful too. There's some jobs out there that pay well but not relative to the hours involved and vice versa.
Think about questions like that first and I'm sure we will have some great ideas. If you really enjoyed teaching I have some ideas in mind that are tough to reach and demanding if you get them but will go a long ways towards closing the career gap from age.
