Probably a lot lower. I've never been to Cali but supposedly it's one of the better areas in the US for women, and the US as a whole is better than NZ.
Remember also that some places in NZ have a high population of Pacific Islanders, who tend to pack on weight very quickly once exposed to Western diets. South Island is a lot more European than North Island, but the flipside is that the population is far smaller and there is less to do.
If you're a reasonably well put-together white guy (or even black) you're unlikely to have to be celibate whilst living in a major NZ city... you just might have to take a hit in quality, depending on where you're coming from.
