When girls ask me to buy them a drink (subtly or otherwise) I just laugh or say "yeah right" or something to that extent. It only makes them want you more... then it's on.
I really do like Oldnemesis' approach, I've done it on accident a few times... but I would only attempt it after she's invested a significant (20+ min) amount of time talking to me.
