Reminds me of how prior to 1929 the government pushed through one of the largest tax hikes in American history just as the bubble was about to burst. That bubble was the first time people bet insane amounts of money on SPECULATIVE wealth, rather than intrinsic wealth.
When it happened, the gov pushed through one of the largest stimulus bills - at that time - that the American public had ever seen.
That was one of the first real types of bailouts, though while it did create some jobs under FDR via infrastructure projects and public works, the financial industry got its paws in that too.
This has never stopped. Notice how new wealth isn't really created - it's all speculative. Basically, they just keep rearranging people's money and then funneling into themselves.
Brilliant, but when you have people from giants like Goldman Sachs that sit on govt regulatory boards, they can use any regulations to their advantage of any competitors who don't know whats coming.
