Women don't have friendships like man do.. If you have a girl, ask her what she thinks about her friends... If she says only good things, you can bet that she's not telling you the truth.
Girls hang with ugly girls because it makes them look better, there is always the 8 on the group that makes herself look like she is a 9 because she's always with a 7 and two 6's. There's always the outlier group, that is three 8's and two 9's, but that's very rare because it's difficult to find that many good looking girls on the same class, workplace, whatever it is they social circle. Unless they're models or work at some job that requires beautifulness.
They don't see each others values based on the same rules that are applied when they look at a man, just like we don't see a man value like we see a chick's.
Guys hang with ugly guys, because if the ugly guy is cool we don't give a fuck about how he looks..
And, about the holding the wall with a beer thing. I doubt that daniel craig suited up drinking a martini holding the wall looking for hotties would be a DLV. If he was talking to a fat ugly chick that would probably confuse the other girls and for some may be a DLV, how much worse would he be with those girls i'm not sure, but definitely wouldn't be better off with the uggo.
But for "normal" guys I believe what you say is true, and if you're at least a 7 in looks + have style, it could be detrimental to your appeal to the prettier girls, they might think there's something wrong with you.
