Air China magazine London race slur sparks anger

The Chinese don't exactly hold back and I can't see them apologising anytime soon, they don't care about 'outrage'.

I would say the statement is partially correct, ethnic minority areas in London and in general the U.K do have higher crime rates. Indian areas not so much however, despite places like Southall having the appearance of being run down. Pakistani and Afro Caribbean areas do have high crime, same applies for the Bengali community in East London too. A lot of Brits who live outside of London make reference to 'chavs', basically a nick name for the white underclass. But they aren't really prominent in London, perhaps in the more suburban areas. However the stabbings, shootings and serious crime usually happens in ethnic minority areas and are usually committed by ethnic minorities. This is not just coming from studying crime statistics in London over the years, but actually living and working here first hand.

Of course people can point to exceptions, and take these statements personally. The journalist in question probably made some black or Indian friends while studying at university and maybe had a conversation with the friendly Jamaican lady who operates the train turnstiles on the way to work. The article needs to have her make a comment as well, to confirm that there are still 'progressive' young Chinese people who don't conform to these outdated ideas.
