She was the one doing almost all of the chasing, inviting, visiting and pining....all he had to do was keep stringing her along with letters full of cryptic phrases, small gifts, occasionally clear up misunderstandings, and give lots of vague promises.
Judging by all her behaviour, he could have had her at any moment he wanted....the question is whether she was successful at getting him.
