UK Cities Data Sheet 1st and 2nd Tier (Nottingham)

Hey guys, I did a datasheet on Nottingham, UK for Mr.GM and as he suggested I am going to make a separate thread in case anyone is interested in going...(not sure why [Image: banana.gif] - just kidding). I thought I would share my knowledge in case anyone happens to be around there.

If there is more interest I will bust out Manchester and I know parts of London quite well.

Feel free anyone else to add Liverpool, London, Newcastle, Bristol, or wherever you wish to the thread.

For our foreign friends, a quick jargon buster:

chav (tʃæv)

— n
informal , derogatory ( Southern English ) a young working-class person whose tastes, although sometimes expensive, are considered vulgar by some

Nottingham

Introduction

Nottingham has a population of roughly 667,000 and is the seventh largest urban area in the UK. Nottingham can be cool if you know where to go and what to do.

It has nice areas and bad areas like any city and I would just advise to exercise normal caution as you would in any other major city. There are no-go areas that are to be avoided, I will mention those later.

Nottingham is one of the most popular venues in the UK for stag parties, with one of the most bars per square mile in Europe, it's easy to see why. But I will not paint it up and do not be under any illusions you will not be blown away as it is no New York or London, however if you make the most of it, it can be fun.

Many of my English compatriots will agree with me in that most of us try and escape the UK to find different women, as in all honesty English women aren't in the top tier of most desirable women in the world. They are similar in many respects to American chicks, celebrity worship, etc etc, not always the greatest looking. However their saving grace is they do have a good sense of humour, use this to your advantage. But don't be disheartened, with the plentiful supply of young, attractive female students in Nottingham however, you can definitely find something.

Nightlife
As mentioned Nottingham has pretty good night-life, and the city centre is very small and compact, subsequently you can easily walk from one venue to the next.

Bars
The best bars can be found in the Lace Market area of Nottingham, this is the more classier and upmarket area of Nottingam - part of it is also called Hockley.

Bar Eleven is fairly small and intimate but can find young professionals and some students like to go there also.

Tantra
I like this place, it's jumping on Fridays and Saturdays , also certain nights in the week (ask to find out which). Small and has bedding, lounging type areas...nice to take a girl, also can meet plenty of girls there.

Escucha
Located next to Tantra, nothing out of the ordinary, can have some good special event nights on, popular with fashionistas.

Pitcher and Piano
Converted church into a bar, very cool and worth going for a drink to see it. Nice place to take a girl, very big inside, so not as intimate in order to directly game..but can be done.

Dogma
Cool bar with 3 floors. More of a seat and chairs vibe, however can get busy at the weekends, has drum and bass on the bottom floor, plenty of girls go. Some special nights during the weekdays too. Can be a more alternative chick/crowd vibe. Round the corner from Escucha.

Market Bar
Not the best venue, standard bar/club with no windows, but I liked it because Jaegerbombs were cheap and the electro/house music is really good. Located opposite Bar Eleven. Good at weekends, but also has a student night in the week, find out which one it is. Hot student chicks in the week.

Coco Lounge
Round the corner from Market Bar. Very cool, sleek Cocktail lounge, nice vibe. Good start place or equally mid week date night venue.

Ye Olde Jersualem
Not a place to find girls, but I thought I would include it for the nostalgia, tourist factor. Cut into the rock of the Castle of Nottingham. The oldest pub in the UK, dating back to the 1100s, has a museum upstairs, very cool and interesting. Take a girl there and woo her with your impressive local knowledge

Ride Bar
Small little bar next to the Corner House, brings in the women cos it's cheappppppp as chips, popular with students during the week.

BZR
Good for student nights during the week, very good and you can get triples for singles for drinks, i.e. a triple shot of jack daniels and coke for the price of one. Avoid it at the weekend, can get rough I think. Located next to the Robin Hood statue, next to the castle and near Ocean on Maid Marian Way.

Kookamaras
Cheesy shot bar, cool in the week as plenty of students. Located up an alleyway on Angel Row opposite McDonalds.

Saltwater
A must. Probably my favourite place. Located at the top of the corner house which is a restaurant and cinema complex. Nice views over Nottingham, fairly expensive, packed full of young professional women at the weekends. I've been on plenty of dates here!

Clubs

Plenty of clubs in Nottingham so there's always some variety.

Gatecrasher
Gatecrasher is one of Nottingham's biggest clubs. It's cool on the weekends, Saturday is a big night. More of an adult crowd in there, so you don't really get any chavs. Gatecrasher is renowned in the UK for playing Ministry of Sound/Dance type music and is a popular club.

Oceana
Cool club, has 4-5 different floors. Downstairs has 2 rooms - Cheesy 80s disco + Aspen Ski Lounge. Upstairs has R n B room, 'Sydney Bar room' and a Paris boudoir type room. It's cool, go on the student nights when it gets busy, if I'm not wrong Tuesdays are Nottingham Trent University night and Mondays are Nottingham University night. I would avoid it on the weekends as it has too many chavs.

Ocean
Cheesy, dirty student sweat fest, plain and simple. Big place. Friday nights are Nottingham Uni night and Wednesday is a huge night for Nottingham Trent. Guaranteed student poontang.

Nottingham Trent Student Union
Located on Shakespeare Street near the Police Station. Only go on a Saturday night, downside is it's open til 2am, plenty of cheese and student poon.

Coco Tang
Best night time venue in my opinion, small but has plenty of chicks, no chavs or dicks in here. Strict on the door, be sure to dress well. My favourite club venue.

Daytime
You can walk around the city centre, and you'l find fly girls. Market Square is good. Shakespeare Street is where Nottingham Trent Uni is based so always always loads of girls around there during the day and next to Boots library.

If you are feeling adventurous, get on a bus or take a taxi to one of the Nottingham University campuses, which are green and big, but you can walk around take it in and game some chicks on campus.

Victoria Centre is great for shopping and always girls in there for retail game.

These places are reachable on foot.

Nottingham is very good for and renowned for its shopping and you have plenty of designer shops, i.e. Paul Smith, Replay and Diesel. It has the Victoria centre and also the Broadmarsh..Broadmarsh not great but has some things.

Living
If you can afford it, try and get yourself a city centre flat. Plenty of new, young professional type, City centre apartment blocks. Talbot Street has some nice ones, with sauna and swimming pool if you can afford it. Not 100% on prices but could be in the £500-600 a month region for your own flat.

On a budget, you could look to share with some people in somewhere like the Glass house apartment complex, or you can get on:

http://www.gumtree.com

And look for a room share, I'm sure you could find one, or look for postings on the Nottingham Trent or Nottingham University student websites.

http://www.trentstudents.org

Avoid
Avoid areas: St Ann's, The Meadows and Radford.

These are not nice places and not a place you want to be.

Avoid some of the clubs you find on a Saturday unless I mention it, as sometimes you do get chavs and locals just looking for a fight (just be streetwise). Walk in the park compared to the favelas in Sao Paulo though I'm sure.

Things to do
There are tonnes of things to do in Nottingham, the Universities have all types of societies and clubs ranging from Muay Thai to Sailing.

Nottingham has the Nottingham Panthers Ice Hockey team and its own ice rink. Definitely worth a visit and really cool!

If you're Brazilian you're used to skillfull, flowing football. I will not promise you that in Nottingham. However Nottingham Forest at the City Ground could be worth a watch. They're not in the premier league but one of the best teams in The Championship - the league below.

Notts County are the oldest professional football club in the world, they're in the lower tier professional leagues, and it will be scrappy, long ball, but could be an experience.

Gym

Plenty of Gyms, for me either pick Hoofers which is located inside the Victoria centre and is 24/7 gym. Liberty's gym is awesome, if you like martial arts it has a ring and a grapple mat, loads of punch bags and great free weight selection prices are roughly £25-30 a month.

Bottom line, go out in the week you can literally go out every night, apart from sunday probably because it's so student orientated, so to make the most of it go during term time September-June, be aware of student exam periods (January, May and June).

Make sure you buy a fake student ID (preferably one that has an NUS certified on it - NUS = National Union of Students). Just type in fake ID UK in google.

Given the right planning and preparation I think you could have a ball in Nottingham. I won't make any promises, and foreigners often tell me they find it difficult to break into UK social circles as UK people seem distant, reserved and cold at first, persevere but be cool, persistence is key.

Yes the UK has its bad points and chavs and what not, but go the right places and you'll be fine, don't listen to all the shit people talk, half of them just reel off shit they saw on the BBC news and don't actually have a clue. Sure you could go to France or Poland as Roosh is now, but if it's the experience you want of the UK, then why the hell not?

Any more info happy to answer questions. Bonne chance!
