Not sure if you guys ever find yourself thinking about this but there are a lot of normal everyday things that when you really think about it is like had I not been born and conditioned to do this, I would think it's fucking wierd. Even small things like going to the movies, in some countries it's rude to segregate yourself and sit alone where as in the US, we get annoyed when someone invades our space.
Urinals are kind of similar, if you think about it without growing up, it does sound fucking wierd like lets all stand shoulder to shoulder at a trauff and piss into this metal trauf like at a sporting even. Obviously it's perfectly normal but if you really think about it its kinda wierd.
As far as urinals and urinal etiquete, I don't like dudes standing next to me as nobody does but at the same time when someone walks into an empty bathroom and goes into a stall to piss I kind of think less of them, I jokingly refer to those people as stall pissers
