A young presidential candidate pushes through a crowd of supporters in a barrio in Tijuana, apparently unaware as the barrel of a gun is placed at his right temple. Before anyone can react, the gunman pulls the trigger, exploding the skull. As the candidate falls, a second bullet rips into his body.

But the March 23, 1994, assassination of Luis Donaldo Colosio, a few months before he was expected to be elected, has never been solved to the satisfaction of many Mexicans, despite a six-year government investigation that concluded it was the work of a lone gunman.

The case has spawned a dizzying array of conspiracy theories and speculation over possible plotters, from cutthroat drug traffickers to members of Colosio's Institutional Revolutionary Party, which ruled Mexico at the time. Some historians view the Colosio slaying as the blow that would propel the party, known as the PRI, to defeat in 2000 after seven decades of virtually unchallenged rule. The film stitches lingering suspicions about the killing into a political whodunit and in a lot of ways is the Mexico's version of JFK.

It was an interesting glimpse into Mexican politics and intrigues:... a subject I know nothing about. It was actually pretty well done in terms of production, acting, score, editing and cinematography. Overall I enjoyed the film and would recommend watching it. Thanks QC!
