They are like everyone else. They want to put on a show of doing something so everyone else will leave them alone.

If they handed a microphone to someone concerned about a serious problem, there would be pressure to follow through on it.

What does it cost them to let these chickens cluck for a few minutes.

It's like when Hollywood applauds a feminist speech or two at the Oscars, and then goes right back to business as usual.
