Yeah, you're probably right about the "hyper" thing. Uptight or humorless people sort of give me a funny look, like "are you on crack?" or something. Eventually they loosen up a bit but it takes a little while.
You guys hit the nail on the head with the "don't think about it" advice. Every bit of success I've ever had came unintentionally/unexpectedly/with little to no effort. Every time I actually TRY to make something happen it never does. I just have to work on my "don't fuck up for the millionth time" game for when something does happen.
I don't have any buddies to go out with, though... maybe I should get some... and learn how to dance!
