Here’s an example of how lunatic some British government departments are. I was once invited to an interview with The Highways Agency - they administer the motorways (or freeways as Americans call them) for the UK. I was told in my interview letter something like “due to the Highways Agency’s belief in environmental values, we cannot provide a parking space for the interview.”
So in other words, the government body which is responsible for administering roads is against cars! I had to take the train to get to the interview.
