Canada is in the same boat as Australia. The Chinese have not invaded with the military - they didn't need to - and instead just bought up all the Canadian companies, real estate and arable land they can get their hands on. Our government helped facilitate this. I hear lots of whispers that China has high level operatives within the Canadian government already, which does not surprise me as a Chinese Canadian Liberal party politician came out recently that he supports the UN controlling our internet.
