Oh please. Calling Iraq a "cradle of civilisation" under Saddam is like saying modern-day Greece still puts out intellects, insight, and thought on par with Plato, Socrates, Thucydides, and Aristotle.
Not to mention that when they invaded, the US tried to secure and preserve the archaeological treasures of Iraq against the (Iraqi) looters who were helping themselves to the antiquities.

Iraq was still a better place to live in though. They had millions of foreign workers before the US War of Terror.
