Migrant invasion of Europe

What's the net tax impact of new immigrants to EU countries? Anyone know of data on this?

In the US, illegal immigrants tend to make a net contribution to taxes (i.e. they pay more than they consume in government services/entitlements) so it makes sense that politicians want to to keep them coming; immigrants help to push back the inevitable shortfalls in entitlement payments. In the EU, my sense is that immigrants might be a net drain on government coffers.

I can only speak about the German situation, but maybe there is a comparison possible to some extent at least.

Migrants tend to pay more for social system they get - BUT this is only an across the board rule. Keep in mind that there are certain sectors of migrants who are not willing to follow rules, because they cling to their own social or religious structure and do not participate.

Also, the findings show that the costs of infrastructure (e.g. school, streets, bureaucracy, military.... ) are not taken into account. If you take these additional costs, the average refugee is a considerable expense.

All in all, the costs for for the government or the tax payer are roughly twenty times higher than the costs for "natives" and amount to a state deficit of 72.000 for each migrant or refugee. (Source: Professor Hans Werner Sinn, if it is available in English.)

By the way: In Austria, the officially confirmed costs for a refugee are 2000 Euro a month. Do you think it would be much different in Germany? No. It is estimated that the costs are at about 1800 Euro.

Now you might say we just have to help. But let's talk about what that means. Supposedly 850.000 people will come - this year at least. [Image: angel.gif] Now do the math: 1530 Millions each month. More than 18 billions a year.

Add to that the refugees already staying in Germany, even illegally so. These are 600000 people: Roughly 13 billions a year.

So how much does it cost for Germany's taxpayer each year? In absolute numbers, at least 31 billions a year. [Image: sleepy.gif]
