For men, there's a reverse dynamic in effect. When I was in my early-20's, those same Cougars helped me gain more "experience" with the opposite sex. They provided entertainment, introduced me to new cuisine, opened the door to new connections and had the means (read:money) to keep my interest temporarily.
Only thing is - it will wear off, and with it goes the appeal. Older women were a diversion, and intrinsically we both provided each other with a short term fix. No more than a check mark off the old bucket list.
Now that they can see the enemy online (younger, fit girls) the older birds feel like they have to be bolder to compete with the shrinking pool of interested men.
