50 years ago, you'd read stories about women fainting or needed to be sedated when their husbands or kids went missing. That's because those were the primary relationships in their lives. We called that "family."
Scroll ahead to 2015, and we now have women throwing fits when they're separated from their pets, because animals -- not people -- now make up their main "relationships."
F. Roger Devlin and Roissy have written about how feminism has "decivilized" us, because it brought back "baboon pack" mating patterns. But that was a metaphor. I don't think either of them saw that feminism has also created an environment where women would swap a life amongst humans for one with actual animals.
And so what you see here is logical. Separate women from their family and they go hysterical. It's just that family is no longer comprised of a loving husband and pack of kids. Heck, family is no longer even that dysfunctional motley crew of step-people we all knew in the '90s.
