Women are constantly looking over their shoulder. My girlfriend will call me if she's scared walking home because there happened to be someone else out past dark. It's fucking ridiculous. Most women live in constant fear when by themselves.
I'm of average-stocky build and have never trained in any sort of combat sport, yet have no problem walking home alone. Even when walking home from the bars hammered. I live in a pretty safe city but I'm sure there were a few times when I was an open target stumbling home. My old roommate got mugged walking home once so it's not like I'm living in suburbia or anything.
After re-reading and reflecting on this thread, the freedom you have as a man greatly outweighs the benefits of being a woman. I'll take the ability to protect myself and walk through this world without worry over free drinks but freaking out every time someone passes me on the sidewalk.
