Best purchase i ever made was a safety razor (double edged grandpa style). It came with 100 different types of blades.
That and a brush and mug and you are set. Cost me about $50 but lasts a year easily with better shaves.
The trick is shave in cold water. Makes shaving easier and the blades last way longer. something about molecules or what not in the steel or some such.
I have a shavette as well, disposable straight razor. Its pretty easy to use but more time consuming and easier to get cut with. I dont use it every day, only like once a week when i want to invest a bit more time in the shave.
