Status is also all relative. If you go to the bar next to your house where everyone thinks you're the man, you have just as much "status" as a celebrity. Context.
This.
I am an excellent public speaker (humble brag) and I work in science where most people are terrible public speakers. When I give a talk at a conference, my status increases enormously. All of a sudden, everybody wants to meet me, congratulate me, talk to me... But once I walk out of the conference room, I am invisible again, just like 99% of all men.
Status gives you visibility. It makes people (also girls) approach you, instead of you needing to approach them. But if you are a douchebag or a loser, they will just find it out quicker.
