By making videotaping a sexual encounter "illegal", it's almost as if universities do not want to allow any exculpatory evidence to be available.
Colleges can get you suspended for a wide variety of reasons. Arbitrary decisions like forbidding male students to record sexual acts of course serve the feminine imperative.
However Jameis is a special case, where a university would actually do the utmost to keep him. Also we do not know whether officials had seen the video and heard the recording. It might have actually gotten him off the hook and they just claimed that it disappeared.
If the college decided to ban him, he might might have leaked the recordings to the net thus making it clear that he was innocent. His reputation would be more or less saved and thus his future career.
For any other average Joe the story would have run a very different course. Recordings are your life-savers - they might have been even his despite the crazy rules enacted.

In many such cases he gets suspended or expelled.
He is free to prove his innocence by showing the video.
However that very proof recorded by you will get you expelled anyway.
Sounds like a perfect catch. In that case you wait, if the college decides to believe the bitch, you leak the evidence, at least get your reputation back, fire effectively at the fake rape culture and prepare the way for a law suit.
