There's probably some natural ingrained disposition to this based on hundreds of thousands of years of human conflict. It was normal for conquering tribes to rape and pillage a village.
Women naturally seek dominance and the darker sexual desires of being debased by multiple random men also became part of the natural coping mechanism.
