It all depends on how your personality is. My first home was a rented condo in a nice hotel-like building close to shops etc. I took for granted all of that when moving to another state and bought a house. Discovering that it's difficult to sell and move makes me feel a little trapped. Now that the market has picked up I can sell and downsize.
Most players on here would agree that less is more with the living space, no? I picture going from 1000 sq. feet plus basement down to a tiny 1 bedroom apartment downtown. I don't really like lawn care that much, or fixing up the house. The only thing I'll miss is having a garage and place to work on my car, got to figure that out before I move.
