From Feminism to Masculism

Yeah - she only misses one point. The homemaker of the 1950s-60s was an extreme anomaly in human history. The poorest 90% of women always had to work - a mere 4 decades before they even had to take over the work of thir husbands in the mines in the UK. All this while trying to raise children (half of them of course dying to to malnutrion, hard labor of women during pregnancy etc.).

The short time of the 40s to 70s was a great privilege for women. Of course the more intelligent ones who desired to become scientists were still able to do so. There were female doctors and scientists back until the 1800s in the UK. It was just less common for a woman of means (because only the rich could study then) to choose a career instead of a husband and kids.

She recognizes clearly that feminism belittles the roles of housewives and mothers. In a more sane world those 10-20% of women who actually would love to work could do so after having had children in their 20s. It would be enough to work from their mid-30s to 60s. For the remaining 80% of women who work as secretaries, waitresses and nurses or worse - almost all of them would drop their job immediatelly if their husbands would earn enough for the whole family. Let them do charity work, work out, do some modicum of housework, play with the children, learn with the children, do some Pilates and running, read a book and be refreshed and happy when the husband returns tired from work. I don't think that most women would see such a life as degrading. Because as a matter of fact most women in the top income bracket are doing exactly that.

But that time is gone now. Being aware of the shit going and having fun is probably the best thing to do.
