He's in showbiz which means you can make a living as a real life court jester skipping and dancing for the masses as long as they are entertained by it.

Showbiz also has a real stake in making men buy into certain social myths and making women happy. They need to appeal hard to both demographics to get people to watch crappy tv shows and go to movies. Not to mention a lot of modern consumerism is based on insecurities.
