DL is a non-promoter promoter. Which sounds like mumble jumble, but really means hes friends w/the door guys, promoters and connectors in that "social world" so he can hop from venue to venue and actually party instead of work.
Promoting sounds glamorous but its basically making sure other people party well. Pretty tiring gig especially if you are locked down to 1 venue.
