I'm looking at San Salvador.
Okay, some random thoughts...
1) I wasn't chasing women when I was there so I can't help you much there (sorry!).
2) There are some really nice looking girls in the shopping malls in San Salvador so I'd definitely recommend going to those.
3) I never felt unsafe in San Salvador but I also didn't "push the envelope" and I had a local showing me around. If you don't know anyone, I'd suggest using couchsurfing to find some people to show you around.
4) Intercity buses are incredibly cheap.
5) Food...well I'm vegetarian. And generally speaking, Central America isn't known for it's cuisine. So expect lots of beans and rice.
6) El Salvador is the least visited of the Central American countries so you won't have much competition from other gringos. The downside is that they don't have much tourist infrastructure. They do have an excellent tourist police force who will accompany you on outings, etc.
7) Salvadorans are considered the friendliest of all the people in Central America. When I was in Honduras, a really cute Salvadoran college student approached me to chat (unfortunately, my friend caught up with me about 10 minutes later and she decided she was more interested in my friend than me...I think it was his blue eyes).
8) Santa Ana, the second largest city in El Salvador , is hell. Ugliest city I've ever seen. And just about every little store was guarded by a private security guard.
9) Playa El Tunco is a great beach for a weekend getaway from San Salvador. Lots of locals go there for the weekend and there are TONS of hot women/girls. Unfortunately most of them will be with their friends/family.
10) Alegria is a cool mountain town that also fills up with local on the weekends.
11) Heard good things about Juayua though I didn't make it there myself. They have a food festival every weekend.
12) Suchitoto is the best colonial city in El Salvador and supposedly has a lots of art/cultural festivals on the weekends.
