Jason Felch wrote LAT sexual abuse articles -- fired for relationship w source

Having inappropriate relations with a source is usually something female reporters do. This is one reason I dismiss a lot of women's writing: because it's influenced by the men they're writing about in a way that could not be done if the reporting was being done by a man.
I worked in a newsroom where the female cops and courts reporter was sleeping with the police PR guy, for example. And in the entertainment and photography field, stories are legion when it comes to women bedding their subjects (Linda McCartney being a prime example).
But this is a rarity: a guy who uses his wiles to seduce a female source. Should we be giving him credit for being a player before being a journalist?
According to his Huffington Post bio, he's also straight and married, so he was cheating too, unless he's split from his wife.
(Addendum: hate to give Gawker a link, but they did do a really good article on reporters sleeping with sources a few years ago. You can also Google reporter slept with source (no quotes) for much more.)
