TLDR: this guy in OZ made 2.9 million American Express Membership points back in 2009 through a crazy AMEX promotion. At the very least, that's worth $29,000 in credit card statements, and if you booked first class tickets with those points, am sure it'd be over retail $300,000 worth of flights easily.
The US definitely has a lot more of these hustles, but just keep your eye out: something's bound to be inefficient where you can exploit it for your benefit.
