I doubt it's that, but if you're worried about that, just list you're a US citizen on your resume. This is commonly done so that they know you're eligible to work, and in some cases because then they know you're eligible for a government security clearance.
After a lot of applying after college I became employed but poorly paid. Then eventually got a job that pays. Now, I put out 1000's of resumes... And it never ever crossed my mind that my name DOES NOT sound American. That absolutely has to be a factor, especially with certain jobs. I will have to put something to make it more clear or use my middle name. This is golden point.
