International Men's Day (TED playlist)

The TED talk playlist was compiled by a woman and is fairly predictable.

1. Movember talk. - Men's health fundraising.

2. Violence against women: it's a men's issue - Men's day, a great excuse to discuss women's issues.

3. How Movies Teach Manhood: Men's day, a great excuse to discuss protrayal of women in movies. Warning! The speaker in this talk is an upper-class douchebag exhibiting maximum smug arrogance and you may have to resist the urge to hurl cinder blocks at your monitor if you watch.

4. Tony Porter: A Call To Men: A challenge to traditional ideas of masculinity. I have to admit this talk was better than I expected, in the sense that I could imagine Tony Porter and a Red Pill guy having a great debate. But in the end, all of the core arguments are typical female-primary ideas about how men should behave. This would be a valid entry if it was balanced with a contrary talk defending traditional masculinity. But of course, there isn't one.

5. Claim your "manspace". This one is pretty cool. It's about men building cool, unusual stuff.

So, two of the five talks are flat-out about women, and one of them is a common attack on traditional masculinity with no contrary discussion.

"International Men's Day" doesn't seem to be recognized in an official capacity (About IMD), though the site is sponsored by Dads4Kids which seems like a legitimate pro-Father site. I'd never heard of it until today.
