Physique- yes, it matters. European looks are considered most attractive (specially blonde hair and blue/green eyes).
Social Circle- depends on what type of game you play. Social circle will count a lot in small towns. In big cities like Sao Paulo and Rio, not so much.
My advice: forget orkut and go cold approaching with your buddy.
