The way to determine the strength of the causal connection is to compare nurses and teachers to stereotypically masculine fields that also feature flexible shift scheduling, like firefighters and oil rig workers. I suspect this study is rife with masculine jobs like "manager," "doctor," "consultant," or "executive," where the husband has a lot less inclination to clean after spending 60 hours at the office each week and taking work home in the evenings.
