You really should not follow so much as you should act. My time in Ecuador taught me that there's no teacher like straight-up experience. I did not have much access to internet while I was in Ecuador, so I had to improvise and act based on what I already knew.
Needless to say, mistakes were made...however, these mistakes are memorable (and thus more useful) for me because I have internalized so much more.
