Since this thread has been necro'd, I want to point out that this may be an illegal transfer of firearms, and in any case, making a friend the custodian of your guns is putting him in a very shitty situation. If a false accusation regarding your guns does happen during the divorce, your friend will have to provide testimony to a court.
Sell your guns to a dealer, or check them into storage, and give the receipts to your friend for safekeeping.
