Easy coast, if you want cheap, go to D.R., P.R., or Colombia.
West coast: Costa Rica?, Antigua, Guatemala if you want to pick up on a steady stream of backpackers.
Nightlife is a huge question mark as far as what your talking about. For me, nightlife equals available alcohol and women. That could be in a dive beach bar or anywhere. To others, they need a packed club to feel like they are participating in nightlife.
