The only question is whether or not that guy is you. If she tells you she isn't there to meet a guy, what she means is that you haven't shown her to be the guy that she IS hoping to meet.
Sure, but this phenomenon of girls going out to clubs in big all female herds is relatively new. Back in the 80's and 90's when girls talked about "going clubbing", it is with a best friend or a couple of close friends.
Girls also put out more overt signs of openness to being approached back then. Now girls will face each other, dance in tight groups, or sit with their backs turned to everyone comparing pictures or slouched over messing around with their phones.
