I thought it was better than Tropa De Elite. Cidade De Deus was a damn good movie though. It seems like those are the two big Brazilian flicks. Def. check out Meu Nome Nao E Johnny if you get a chance though. It's about a guy who sells a ton of drugs in Rio and then just goes and blows the money in Europe with his girl, and repeats this process while being caught, having to pay off pigs, and getting stuck in fucked up situations the whole way through. Probably one of my favorite movies.

Casino, Jackie Brown, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrells, Four Rooms, Goodfellas.

Tropa de Elite is way much better than Carandiru! If you want a prison movie watch "Prisioneiro da grade de ferro", a doc shooted by the prisoners.
