You would think that with sexuality and mating being such a core aspect of human behavior that there would be more academic studies on the various kinks and fetishes that occur out there in the sexual market place. However, it appears that there really isn't. I suspect it's because it's too politically sensitive a topic for social scientists.
One female sexologist I read about (I don't remember her name but I think she worked at a Canadian university) said that after a study of hers found that a majority of women had rape fantasies, she received death threats and was not invited to present her study results at a conference as usual.
