Ontario schools will offer gender studies

The number of stereotypes present in this article made me wonder how out of place this would be as an Onion article.

How might Rehtaeh Parsons’ life been different had her school offered a gender studies course?

No different, because any self-respecting male would be focused on taking courses preparing himself for a relevant and worthwhile degree. Except gender studies would probably be a bird course so yeah, it would have good participation rates and they'd point to that as proof of its effectiveness.

“Instead of talking about what the girl did and how ‘she had this coming to her,’ the focus might have been on ‘how these guys go through life not knowing about consent?’ ” says Lara Shkordoff.

She did provide consent, enthusiastically, and there are witnesses that attest to that. You don't see that being reported as that won't fit the frame of the story.

They launched their campaign while studying the University of Western Ontario, where for the first time they were exposed to women’s history, and feminist theory and the concept of gender as something that’s built, not born. They were taking women’s studies classes.

As their campaign stretched, it expanded from women’s studies to gender studies. Another gauge of time spent: one of their early supporters was Kathleen Wynne

Friendly reminder of who this bitch is. And she's Ontario's new premier, which is just great.

They are ... 30 or nearing it ... No kids... They have an intimidating number of degrees between them.

“Go into science or technology or math. That’s an incredible part of the economy, and women need to be part of it"

I'm willing to wager not one of their 'intimidating number' of degrees is a STEM degree. Feminism: do as I say, not as I do.

And the part that just sent me right over the edge...

I asked them for their advice to young, budding feminists looking to change the world.

“Read books. Listen to music. Have conversations,” says Rawal.

Reading books and listening to music will change the world. I just, I can't...
