I'm in a college town and at the beginning and end of semesters it's common to see college chicks walking around town with their mothers. Quite often, looking at both you can see how the cute chick before your eyes will age into the dumpy middle aged mother next to her. It's like watching a time machine.
Sometimes you will see a so-so chick with a better looking mother. (Obviously a rarer occurrence.)

"Erm, by the way, you have a pic of your folks in your purse...?"
