You think too much. Your thinking is translated to your body language which signals the girl "hey, this guy is insecure". It doesn't matter what you say, but how you say it. If you believe the opener is awesome, your body language will reflect that: "this guy is cool and fearless". There is a thread: K.I.S.S.: Keep It Simple, Stupid, which is a good read. If you don't know what to say, don't say anything. If only thing you can think of is a comment which is supposed to be "inappropriate", say it.
