A legit guide to Aspen/Snowmass, CO

Aspen/Snowmass is a ski area in Colorado with 4 mountains. Aspen has a population of maybe 10k in the winter when all the foreigners are here for the season, though gets up to around maybe 50-60k people in town during X Games an holidays. I've heard 80-90 but I think that's bullshit. Snowmass is a small village where the elevation is well higher than the population (Elevation 9k, people, 1500). Definitely don't plan on trying to score in Snowmass, it's possible, just not probable (I think I've pulled around 4 or 5 in Snowmass). But snowmass does have the best mountain in my opinion if you like to snowboard. There are also certain nights when it's the place to be, like in the Summers Thursday nights there are always free concerts, Saint Patricks Day, Fat Tuesday, but mostly rare occasions.....

DO NOT GO TO ASPEN/SNOWMASS FROM OCTOBER TO MID NOVEMBER OR MID APRIL TO MID JUNE!! This is off season and most people go travel except the locals, even then sometimes they travel as well.

Girls: Aspen is definitely the spot you want to go to for nightlife. Be warned though that the guy to girl ratio is really high, with a lot more guys than girls. There are A TON of Brazilian and Argentine girls, along with girls from all over the world, but it seems that Argentina and Brazil have the highest amount of citizens here followed by maybe Australia. Aspen can be tricky for pulling if you live here because you get a reputation and it seems like girls have a code to where they just don't fuck guys their friends have already fucked. Then maybe if you bomb with one girl then she tells all her friends and that group is no longer an option for you. It's a small town, But if you are just visiting you don't have to worry about it. I would say all in all Aspen is kinda tough to hook up though. You're basically going to have about the same chances as you would in Brazil or Argentina (Never been to Arg, but can imagine from what I've read here and been told by others). A lot of the girls are closed and snobby and to tell you the truth it might be even harder than SA minus the language barrier because there girls are mostly the rich girls from Latin America. Most of the American girls here aren't very cute. I must say though Aspen does have very quality girls for how small it is. But it also just depends on the night as well. Some nights you'll go out and no one's in town, other nights it's raging. Obviously the best nights to go out are Friday and Saturday. Thursdays are usually pretty good as well. The best place to go for hooking up would probably be The Regal or Hunter Bar (Tons of foreigners in Hunter Bar) or maybe even one of the ritzier hotel bars. Me and my friend were just thinking about this but haven't done it really yet. And day game day game day game on the slopes, especially in snowmass, this is probably the only place you will pull in snowmass. And what better scenario could there be than you and a hot girl in a gondola together? If she isn't feeling you at first, she has nowhere to go, and no one wants to be a bitch and then have to ride in a gondola with someone else for ten minutes. Chat her up, ask where she's from and tell her to come take a ride with you because you know a really sweet run (Even if you don't) and show her your dirty skills if you've got em. The bars are always changing though it seems. Almost every season the good spot changes, but the last two seasons it's been The Regal for the most part. Which brings me to bars and clubs...

Bars and Clubs: Like I said, the hot spots change, but right now The Regal is pretty much the hot spot. I usually wait to go there until around 1 when everyone is drunk. I don't really dig the place much, but that's just were everyone goes so, why not, its my best odds. I'll usually pre game at cooper street (ahh now the name is Bad Billy's, it was Cooper Street forever though) or cantina. Both are good spots and chances are you are going to see some cuties there. Coopers street has pool tables, foos ball, shuffle board, video games, jukebox, etc. Cantina is just a mexican food restaurant but the bars is seperate and gets pretty packed until around 10 or 11. Another good spot, especially if you are on a budget is little annies. Not the greatest environment but it's only $3 for a shot and a beer. In the summer during the day, definitely hit up the Sky hotels pool. They have a bar right there and there are always hotties hanging out. It's expensive though. Most places in Aspen you are going to pay around $7-10 for a mixed drink and about $5 for a beer unless you are a baller and no how to tip, then the bartenders remember you and hook it up. After the pre game spots I usually hit up Eric's, which has a cigar bar, billiards room, mini club, and mexican restaurant all in one venue. This is honestly my favorite spot because I love playing pool (Though pool is $15 an hour they by far have the nicest tables in town, and probably have about 10 of them) and I can smoke inside. And I can also hear the people I'm talking with and can chill on the couches and comfortable furniture they have laying around. Unfortunately, it's not the best spot for hooking up. But it's a good spot to hang out with friends. After Erics I'll usually go to hunter bar. Hunter bar also has one pool table and foosball table but there is usually a wait. Sometimes they have some good Dj's playing music, but for the most part, its just a normal bar/club, but it does have quite a few hotties and is not a bad spot to pick up (especially the Argentine and Brazilian girls). After Hunter, everyone goes to The Regal, which as I stated before, isn't really my spot, but I just go because all the drunk cute girls always end up there. Try your chances there and if nothing is working out for you, hang around outside after last call as everyone is mingling and honestly, it's a good time to try and mac (Though it could be hard to persuade a girl to go to your house 15 mins. after meeting her, but you could maybe hear about an after party or at least geta number for the next night). This is where I met the hottest Brazilian girl I've seen in the states where she was smoking by herself as all the dudes gauked at her all google eyed afraid to approach. Some other noteworthy spots that aren't as good are Dish, Sizzagy (Spelling and only on Sundays really), Fly, Jimmy's or Mustang. The last 5 spots I named are more of a older crowd (I'm thinking 35+) though some nights those spots are poppin' and if you are a cougar hunter........ Also, if there is a good show playing at the belly up, check that out. There are usually tons of hot girls and it's not a bad spot for hooking up. You would be suprised at the gigs we get in Aspen, Snoop Dog, John Fogerty, Damian Marley, Nas, B.B. King just to name a few. And there are always the illest hip hop groups coming in. Farside played last night, Thursday People Under the Stairs, then Sunspot Jonz and Acyalone are coming. Zion I and Grouch. Guru is always stopping in. If for some reason you decide to take a laid back night in Snowmass, hit up Zanes or The mountain dragon. Hoestly though, don't plan on scoring. The only time hotties are really there is usually after skiing and most of them are with their boyfriends. But on occasions you get a lucky night. I've personally only pulled twice at these bars (Almost three if I went for the kiss faster and the girl wasn't Argentine) and I've been there over a hundred times.

Lodging: I don't know a whole lot about lodging in Aspen, but I know for a budget in snowmass, hit up Stonebridge Inn, Pokolodi, Snowmass Inn, Mountain Challet, or Silver Tree. Not sure about bragains in Aspen, but the baller spots are..... The Little Nell, St. Regis, Sky, The Ritz, and I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking of right now. The Little Nell is the only 5 star resort in Aspen/Snowmass, but it's pricey. You can get rooms in the summer for maybe a little under $90 in Snowmass. In the Winter, you're looking at almost $200 a night. But if you plan on going out, talk to me, I may be able to set you up with something real cheap.

Skiing/boarding: Skiing is expensive as fuck here but we also have some of the best mountains and conditions in the world. I've had people come out from the east coast who have been to Europe as well and tell me our conditions are the best they've ever seen, when I was thinking the conditions suck. I guess I'm just spoiled. But tickets are around $90. But I'm sure you get quit a bit more runs in here than most resorts because there are virtually no lines. Maybe Christmas break at 10 o clock you'll have a 10-20 minute line, but most days the longest you will wait (Unless you are trying to get your own gondola to blaze a fatty) is going to be no longer than 2 minutes. Thats a lot more than you can say for the I-70 Resorts. Like I said, Snowmass has the best and biggest mountain. They have the park, back country, beginer to expert runs, great stuff out of bounds, big and small cliffs. They have everything. If you have expereince skiing/snowboarding, go to the high alpine lift and hike the wall on a powder day, it will probably be one of the best runs you'll ever take. We get awesome snow here. It's almost the end of the season and we're still getting dumped on. Aspen and highlands is where you want to go if you like riding steep runs or mogguls (Who likes mogguls). They can both be very good on powder days if you get there early, but later in the day, all the powder hounds come out in the morning and ride everything out, so after 12 it kinda sucks, especially if you don't know where you are going. Our best run is located on Highlands called "Highlands Bowl." Buttermilk is more for beginers, but they do have a pretty nice park, the same park they do for the x-games, but there jumps are always fucked and snowmass' jumps are always so perfect.

Transportation: The beautiful thing here is you don't really need a car for anything. There are free busses that run every 30 minutes and the commute to from aspen to snowmass is only 30 minutes by bus (Maybe 15-20 by car), and the bus can be quite the fun ride home if you are taking the 2:15 (last bus). The busses run 6:15a-2:15p. I love it because you aren't really looked down on at all if you don't have a car because practically no one here has a car under 25. It might also be best to just stay in snowmass if lodging is cheaper and just go to Aspen at night on the free bus. Taxis are expensive as fuck so didn't miss the bus. A ride from aspen to snowmass is probably around $50-70

Dinning: Aspen has the best of the best. One of our Sushi Restaraunts, Matsuhisu, was ranked second best in the world, but it's expensive as fuck. Good thing I'm banging out one of the waitresses and I don't pay much. If you're going out to a nice restaurant in Aspen, plan on paying around $30 per person just for the meal, excluding drinks. Even shitty bar food is around $10-12 a plate. Some good recomendations I have are... D19, Motsuhisu, Kenichi, Taka Sushi, Jimmy's, Elevation, Social, Messoluna, I mean there are a ton. Those are all Aspen. The best spots in Snowmass are The Artisan in the Stonebridge Inn and Il Pogio.

I hope someone uses this guide, because it took me a fuck ton of time to write. Aspen is very worth going to especially if you like to ski, and even if not, it is beautiful in the summer. There are actually even more things to do in the summer, its just everyone comes here to ski. There are trails for days there with awesome scenery. There are even awesome trails that basically go through town that have amazing scenery. I definitely recomend checking it out once in you life. Just plan on spending a pretty penny, or if you are legit hit me up and maybe I can work something out for the budget traveler.
