"Is misogyny maladaptive?"

I think the author uses the term "maladaptive" incorrectly. An attitude cannot be maladaptive if it has functioned perpetually for a long time; this runs counter to the very definition of the word. The author is taking a personal opinion about society and wrapping it in academic terms to make it sound more credible.

Also, I dispute the idea that dissimilar gender roles are misogynistic. If a man makes money and a woman takes care of a house, why do people automatically assume that the woman is being subjugated? The man and woman are both working to provide for each other and their household.

The guy has vast academic credentials but he cheapens himself by letting his opinions guide his work. His last sentence explicitly shows his bias when it says, "we still have a long way to go." He seems like a guy who has spent so long in his field that he knows what buttons to push to gain agreement from his target audience even when his argument isn't based on more than opinions and a couple anecdotes.
