I haven't been to Moldova but I can say you can't go wrong with any of those choices.
You got those switched. Ukrainian language in the West, Russian in the East and South.
I think you can do fine with only knowing English in Ukraine. It's a struggle sometimes, but the few girls who know English seem to like foreigners.
