I think you're just idealizing the past. A guy that dressed like this in the past would still be a total dweeb. You think guys didn't play football, fight in wars, and do manly things back then?
The true fact is, the same things you are seeing now are the same things that happened in the past. The only difference is the woman has the choice to forgo involving herself with a man like this. The single mom's aren't raising the guys right. However, as a man, no one will care. It's the man's job to pick himself up and be better. That's the way it's always been. No one cares about the trials and tribulations of being a man, and that's a good thing.
Stop idealizing a past you never even lived in. Live in the present.
