I don't mean to come off as insensitive and all that, but nowadays you've gotta be a stronger person, have a vision to get yourself out of your rutt, and execute. There's no excuse, especially when you have people with no arms/legs and what not still enjoying their life. I'm sorry but there's no excuse for that. American suburbon teens are just not hard at all. Not "hard" as in a fucking tough guy douchebag, but hard as in man-ing up the way people use to in the states, and the way they still are in Europe.

As others have said, sex is a huge motive for animal behavior. The best way to minimize sexually induced violence is probably by having a society of prudes - men and women marry young and form stable marriages. Little hypergamy, fewer men going without a woman, and fewer men getting jealous when their old squeeze is getting hit up by a new man. At the same time that the sexual market has become a 'player-take all' market, pornography has become ever more common, perhaps serving as a sexual release valve, without which there'd be more violence.
