I find most women to be almost allergic to talking about history. Even the smarter women I have dated hate history.
The only exception to this is period dramas like Downton Abbey, Wolf Hall, Pride & Prejudice, etc.
Most women I know love these adaptions and have read some of the associated books.
No harm to know a little about some of these, but even if you don't, you can easily turn a conversation sexual, talking about women in corsets, repressed passion in Victorian times, bodice ripping, etc
