I've had serious problems in this area. Number closing really doesn't mean anything anymore. After a good interaction and a clear intent to do something in the coming days it usually goes like this:
Me: Hey it's [my name] from [venue]. Tonight I'm going to [do what was discussed at first meeting].
Girl: I can't because [insert random bullshit about work or getting a pedicure or something].
I just say fuck it and move on at that point. No point in wasting any more time.
